About the Department/College

The Northern Arizona University (NAU) Occupational Therapy (OT) Doctoral program is located on the Phoenix Bioscience Core (PBC), an expansive award-winning and progressive urban Phoenix campus. Currently, 135 students are enrolled in this highly respected traditional program. In 2014, the program successfully obtained accreditation status by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). In 2022, the program was reaccredited and awarded the maximum of 10 years. In Fall of 2023, the program expanded the traditional pathway to include a hybrid pathway. The hybrid pathway cohort enrolls up to 30 students.

The program\'s graduates exemplify NAU OTD\'s practice-scholar model, with a combination of excellence in clinical practice coupled with a track record of outstanding scholarship activities. Its eleven full-time and numerous adjunct faculty are known for student-centric education and successful research, publication, and activism in the OT field. The OT department is recognized for its high level of collaboration with the community and its extensive outreach toward underrepresented populations.

Positions within both pathways (traditional and hybrid) require significant contact with students, outside constituents, professional organizations, and faculty. Residence in Arizona and in-person teaching in downtown Phoenix are requirements of this position in traditional and hybrid pathways.
