Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center Athletic Trainer - School Based in Findlay, Ohio

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION The purpose of this job is to be an athletic trainer at a contracted school for prevention, evaluation, documentation, education, immediate care, referral and coordination of care of athletic injuries under the direction of the team physician or by written referral from a physician, and in accordance with State of Ohio athletic training practice act. Be a positive community representative of school and Blanchard Valley Health System. JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES * Duty 1: Provide athletic training services during practices, games and events as determined in collaboration with athletic trainer and athletic director. * Duty 2: Assess, evaluate, manage, treat, rehabilitate and recondition athletic injuries under the direction of team physician or referring provider. * Duty 3: Maintains accurate records of injuries, treatments and forms that may include final forms, Sway/Impact testing. * Duty 4: Maintains communication with the patient, family, team physician, referring provider, coaches, and administration concerning progress, problems, home programs, and other issues related to the therapeutic process. * Duty 5: Helps in preparing orders, maintaining and cleaning equipment and inventorying supplies in conjunction with school with attention to budget. * Duty 6: Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods. * Duty 8: Oversee athletic training aides and graduate students, as delegated * Duty 9: Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. * Duty 10: Continues professional growth by attending educational meetings, workshops, visiting related facilities, and professional literature to ensure compliance with national regulating athletic training boards, and state licensure requirements. * Duty 11: Represent school and BVHS in positive manner at the school, event or within the community. * Duty 12: Complete all requirements needed to work with students at the school. This may include online training sessions required by Ohio Revised Code. * Duty 13: Operate at all times within the scope of the general and specific educational philosophy of the school and BVHS. * Duty 14: Obtain approval for vacation, illness or other time off in conjunction with school, athletic trainer and Blanchard Valley Orthopedics Manager. * Duty 15: Travel with athletic teams as decided upon in conjunction with school athletic director/athletic trainer. * Duty 16: Attend home games/meets as decided upon in conjunction with school athletic director/athletic trainer for boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, hockey, wrestling, freshman and junior varsity football, baseball, softball, and track. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Licensed as an Athletic Trainer by the Ohio OTPTAT Board * Certified by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification * A valid driver's license is required (if you do not have a valid Ohio driver's license you must obtain one within 30 days of your residency in the state). You must also meet BVHS's company fleet policy and insurance company requirements, and any other requirements that may be required to operate a vehicle. * Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required. * Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status.
