Waste Connections Diesel Mechanic in Fife, Washington

Murrey's Disposal , a Waste Connections company, has an immediate position open for a Full-Time Diesel Mechanic to work on our fleet of garbage trucks and trailers in Fife, WA . Mechanics interested in secure, steady employment are encouraged to apply.

The schedule for this position will be Monday-Friday, 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm.

Starting pay will be $34/hr with a $1.50/hr shift differential, totaling $35.50 per hour for swing shift mechanics.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Service and Repair Fleet of Garbage Trucks

  • Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services and repairs

  • Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times (Cummins, Davie-4, and Allison doc experience required.)

  • Laptop and Chassis Diagnostics

  • Test drive trucks after services and repairs

  • Ability to effectively communicate and understand service schedule and/or repairs

  • MIG Welding

  • General shop cleaning responsibilities

  • Equipment safety checks

  • Maintain and track service inventory

  • Communicate with drivers for issues in morning and afternoon

  • Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports

  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.

Qualified candidate must have:

  • 3+ years’ experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair

  • Basic tool set, tool box and proper personal safety equipment as required

  • Basic computer skills and experience with test diagnostic laptop and software.

  • Class B CDL is preferred but not required.

  • Welding experience is a plus.
