WestRock Company Power Plant Operator in Fernandina Beach, Florida

The Opportunity:

This is an entry-level position that will progress and develop into a control room operator.

The trainee program will consist of professional developmentthrough academic and on the job training. Emphasis is placed on practicalwork experience; rotational work assignments are part of the trainee'sprofessional training.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Monitor power plantequipment and indicators to detect evidence of operating problems.

  • Powerhouse area encompasses all boiler water treatment, wastewater treatment, steam, and utilities to support mill operations.

  • Adherence to all mill safety rules, participates in or may lead safety programs and meetings with the goal of improving safety at the mill.

  • Supports the mill behavior-basedsafety program

  • Demonstrates active caring for co-workers

  • Learns all job-related Safe Operating Procedures

  • Performs duties/tasks in a safe manner

  • Encourages safe work habits of co-workers

  • Maintains a clean& orderly workplace

  • Inspects tools/work area

  • Participates in safety meetings and Safety Training

  • Reports all near misses and unsafe conditions

  • Suggest methods for improving the process

What you need to succeed:

  • High School Diploma orGED

  • Experience in PowerPlants a plus but not required.

  • Must be capable of operating large valves, lifting up to 50 lbs. and climbing multiple flights of stairs on a frequent basis.

  • Must be motivated to eventually operate coal oil fired boilers used for steam and electric power generation.

  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 environment.
