Cassia Maintenance Technician in Fergus Falls, Minnesota

Augustana Apartments of Fergus Falls and Cardinal Homes is hiring a Part-Time Maintenance Technician to join our team! In this role, you will provide general maintenance for the buildings as well as each individual unit.

This is a Part-Time, benefit eligible position working 20 hours a week. The hours are flexible! You will have to be available to our residents for emergencies in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor or Project Manager.

    Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic maintenance repairs and projects as needed.

  • Snow removal on an as-needed basis in the parking lot, sidewalks, and steps.

  • Shampooing common area and unit carpeting as needed.

  • Paint common areas and units as needed.

  • Check weekly all emergency lights & smoke alarms in common areas.

  • Prepare vacated units for new move-ins, shampoo and maintenance (faucets, lights, etc.)

  • Show units to prospective residents as requested by the Maintenance Supervisor or Project Manager.

  • Watering lawn, shrubs, trees, and flowers should be performed on an as-needed basis.

  • All grounds will be maintained in an attractive manner and inspected daily.

  • Uses safe practices & equipment at all times; reports unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately.

  • Responsible for completion of work orders, signing and dating all work orders as completed.

  • Purchase grounds maintenance supplies and report major or irregular supplies/equipment needed to the Maintenance Supervisor.

  • Make sure all equipment is in proper working order.

  • When the Maintenance Supervisor is on vacation or a leave of absence, this position will be responsible for responding to calls at home, including evenings & weekends, as necessary. Non-emergency calls that can reasonably wait for a response until the following day or Monday are acceptable.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Maintenance Technician Skills and Requirements:

  • Familiar with state, federal, and OSHA regulations applicable to the work environment.

  • Familiar with fire and safety regulations applicable to the work environment.

  • Able to follow-through on projects with little supervision.

  • Willing to perform manual tasks and carry out all job-related instructions given.

  • Able to cooperate and communicate with other employees.

  • Able to use basic maintenance tools such as a hammer, pliers, screwdriver, drill, etc.

  • Has regular and reliable attendance.

  • Participates in required in-service training sessions.

  • Able to perform medium work (exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly).
