Job Description:

  • We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer specializing in the design of building systems to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems and have a passion for delivering efficient and effective solutions. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing HVAC and plumbing portions of projects from conception to completion.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Professional Engineer license (P.E.) preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC and plumbing system design and implementation
  • Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., Trane TRACE, or similar)
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD and/or Revit)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of building codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., IBC, IMC, IPC, IFGC, ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Knowledge and experience designing electrical systems a plus
  • Knowledge and experience designing fire suppression systems a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop HVAC and plumbing systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
  • Conduct HVAC load calculations, energy modeling, and system simulations.
  • Perform calculations to determine pipe sizes, fixture units, and other plumbing requirements.
  • Select and specify HVAC and plumbing equipment and materials.
  • Review and evaluate existing HVAC and plumbing systems.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and codes.
  • Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and coordinated designs.
  • Review shop drawings, perform site observations, and provide technical support during construction.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
