Position Description Wally’s cashiers work as a member of the Guest Service Team, and are responsible for providing great guest service, while processing cash, debit, credit and check transactions using the point-of-sale system. Successful team members are able to accurately count drawers, balance the cash register, make change, record purchases, process returns and scan items for sale. Responsibilities and Duties Cashiers will provide an upbeat, polite, pleasant guest experience, performing duties in a timely fashion. Using standard operating procedures will proactively respond to customer complaints, correct difficult circumstances, and report to GSL when needed. Correctly counts money in the cash drawer at beginning and end of work shift. Accurately completes customer transactions using POS units and accepting all proper methods of payment. Transacts beer & tobacco purchases in accordance with all state laws and guidelines. Follows company policy in processing exchanges, refunds, and discounts in appropriate categories. Utilize applicable store operational procedures to maintain clean and organized checkout areas. Assist inventory team in pricing, stocking, and rotating merchandise according to standard operating procedures. Perform other duties as assigned Required flexibility in scheduling including nights, weekends, and holidays. Position Requirements “List required qualifications, skills, and work availability if applicable. If position requires a minimal amount of experience list as well.” Dresses appropriately for position; keeps self well groomed. Consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Follows instructions, responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions; completes tasks on time High school diploma or GED preferred. Cashier experience is preferred. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to communicate and/or write simple correspondence. Basic math and cash handling skills Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems using standard operating procedures. Team Members are regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
