Job Information

Prince of Peace Center Delivery Driver in Farrell, Pennsylvania

This employee is primarily responsible for driving the Center's box truck and completing all pickups and deliveries for our Mission Thrift Store and Food Programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive the truck in a manner that is safe and cost effective
  • Obey traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures
  • Assist in all pickups and deliveries of food, furniture and appliances
  • Assist office staff in scheduling trips to make best use of resources
  • Maintain accurate records related to all trips from the Center -- manage gas cards, record daily mileage, complete logs as directed
  • Assist in loading and unloading the truck as a team member
  • Work with others to arrange donated items within the Store and/or the food storage space
  • Insure that donated items are stored or arranged in a manner that is safe for all
  • Insure that Mission bags are placed into the trailer daily
  • Accurately maintain records such as vehicle logs
  • Inure vehicle maintains a minimum of ¼ tank of fuel at all times
  • Turn in receipts and all money received from donors
  • Deliver food bags to elderly in housing, carrying bags to doors as needed.
  • Report any accident and/or vehicle damage in a timely and accurate manner
  • Supports food distribution and Thrift Store activities as requested. Help to move "Mission Bags" is requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be capable of performing the above outlined tasks effectively and efficiently with a passion for the mission of Prince of Peace Center
  • Must read maps/ GPS/ Google printouts, and follow directions to established destinations
  • Must be willing to learn, flexible with the ideas and directions of others, fair minded and capable of interacting with difficult people and situations in an appropriate and professional manner
  • Must possess adequate physical strength and health enabling repetitive activity such as bending, reaching, and lifting 50 pounds.
  • Must be responsible and mature, employ good judgment using a team approach, and able to interact appropriately with various types of people with diverse personalities and needs
  • Much have and maintain a valid PA or Ohio driver's license
  • Must work well with your partner as an equal team player • Must positively promote good customer relations when completing work tasks

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Permanent/Part time -- non-exempt at 15 hours per week, (1/2 hour unpaid lunch)
  • Pass a health and Drug Screening, submit to a Criminal Background Check and possess Act 33/34 Child Abuse history clearance
  • 4-month probation period
