GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, provides coordination of technical and support personnel involved with the acquisition and processing of MRI exams. Assigns and monitors the work of MRI technologists to optimize quality and efficiency. Oversees the compliance of policies/procedures to ensure departmental standards are met. Follows Corewell health philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Leads and assigns the daily work schedules of MR Techs and monitors patient schedules to ensure efficient and safe patient flow and acquisition of optimal images. Ensures that images produced by technologists are of the highest quality for interpretation by radiologists. Monitors equipment for optimal functionality and takes appropriate corrective action for failures. Assists leadership in achieving site and system objectives (i.e. develops protocols to enhance performance). Leads operations of the service to ensure quality care is maintained. Demonstrates leadership and conflict resolution abilities through effective problem solving. Effective inter/intra-departmental communication and participation with medical staff, management, technical and support staff. Accurately and efficiently uses hospital computer systems for verifying orders, viewing schedules information to PACs. Trains new staff. Assists in interview process/candidate selection. Assists with annual staff evaluations and/or annual competencies. Performs duties of MRI Technologist when necessary to support efficient flow of patient’s department. Supports higher level responsibilities in the absence of the manager. Maintains competency in all assigned areas.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Training:

  • Graduate of Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Accredited Radiography program.

    Work Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ clinical experience MR staff technologist level preferred.

    Certification, Licensure, Registration:

  • ARRT Registered (MR) and/or completion of Accredited Radiology program- must be registry eligible to take the ARRT(MR) certification required within 1 year of hire.

  • ARRT Registered and/or Graduate of Approved MRI Technologist Program American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT).

  • Must remain in good standing with the ARRT and/or ARMRIT. Technologists working in MRI modality before 2008 are exempt from additional MRI certification.

    Other Qualifications:

  • Basic Life Support Certification for Healthcare Providers at hire through the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross.
