We partnered with a leading precision manufacturer with a rich legacy spanning 80 years. As a key strategic supplier, they specialize in producing metal springs, stampings, machined components, and assemblies for various industries such as; medical devices, defense and firearms, aerospace and government sectors.

Primary Position Objectives:

We are seeking a Tool & Due Maker to support operations by maintaining and implementing systems and programs related to tooling and machine maintenance, ensuring adherence to production schedules and driving continuous improvements in the quality, cost, and lead-time of goods and services provided to CSS customers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Toolmaker:

  • Perform set-up and maintenance of tooling, ensuring first piece quality submission.

  • Document tool history and setup information according to established processes.

  • Alert supervisors regarding the need for machine and tool maintenance on production tooling.

  • Fabricate tools, components, fixtures, and gauges as directed by area supervisors or technical leads.

  • Collaborate with the New Tool Group on the introduction of new tools into production areas.

  • Assist in standardizing tooling component inventory.

  • Provide assistance in the development of project/tool estimates (quotes).

  • Assist department set-up associates in solving problems and issues with tool set-up and production running.

  • Assist company managers on all Metal Stamping and Four slide projects.

  • Alert supervisors regarding updates and corrections needed on job travelers for operation changes/additions.

  • Assist in the training of apprentices.

  • Department Goals:

  • Work towards meeting quoted/job estimates for Service-Set-up and Production Rate on all tooling.

  • Lean Initiatives:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of Lean Projects.

  • Actively participate in Lean Projects.

  • Other Responsibilities:

  • Maintain adherence to company policies, environmental, and safety standards, as well as good housekeeping practices.

  • Provide assistance or instruction to other personnel as required.

  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Attendance is an essential function of the job.

  • Willingness to work overtime to support the needs of the business.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Component/Tooling Fabrication, Trouble Shooting Tooling, and Repairing Tooling.

  • Experience in set-up and troubleshooting of Production Stamping Equipment 60T-330T in an Automatic Power Press Production Department.

  • Knowledge of WINTRESS CONTROL and Fein Blank.

  • Completion of CT-approved journeyperson apprenticeship program.

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GDT) for production manufacturing.

  • Working knowledge and practical experience with statistical process control in production environments, with a progressive stamping background required.

  • Familiarity with ISO quality standards and experience with statistical process control in a production environment.

  • Familiarity with Medical and Aerospace (ISO13485 & AS9100) working environments.

  • Understanding of Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Lean manufacturing principles.

  • Experience with production standards, cost of quality, and manufacturing methods.

  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and a production-oriented mindset.

Pay Details: $30.00 to $40.00 per hour
