Summary of duties: Responsible for shipping, receiving and moving parts, materials, and finished goods. Operates a yard tractor to move trailers in the yard and back trailers to the loading dock for unloading and loading. Utilizes rigging equipment, such as hoists and marine lifts, and grappling devices appropriate to the weight and size of the cargo to lift and load/unload trucks. Unloads/loads and moves materials and parts with a powered industrial truck (PIT). Inspects equipment to ensure it is in good operating condition, including tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, etc. Completes equipment safety checks and follows safety procedures. Completes shipping and/or receiving reports and records. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Reads work orders or follows verbal instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Moves items into and out of storage, kitting area, and/or production areas. Maintains necessary information and records for inventory locations on the computer and ensures appropriate paper flow with the materials/goods throughout the process. May perform cycle counting functions. Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers. Packs and seals parts, coils, or sections into or onto fabricated containers or skids. Installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit. Ensures the shipping paperwork is accurate and the appropriate documents are shipped with the load. Trains team members in the operation of various equipment, procedures and work instructions. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Previous manufacturing experience preferred. Ability to operate hand tools. Ability to read and understand written English.
