A Survey Intern with Houston Engineering Inc. (HEI) will be involved with practical on-the-job projects, spending the majority of time working with outdoor surveying and/or construction phase activities.

Job Description

As an intern, responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

  • Assist with plan specifications and estimates as well as documenting construction activities.
  • Assist withAutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and updateredlines withvarious project set drawings.
  • Operate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.
  • Mark points of measurement with elevation, station number, or other identifying mark.
  • Mark measuring points with keel (marking crayon), paint sticks, scratches, tacks, or stakes.
  • Place stakes at designated points and drive them into ground at specified elevation.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a two-year civil/survey tech program, Civil Engineering program or related field.
  • Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD are preferred.
  • Able to work extended periods of time in outdoor conditions.
  • Above average math and communication skills.
  • Valid drivers license and availability for overnight travel.
