Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Counselor to join our team. As a Residential Counselor, you will be responsible for providing direct care and support to residents, promoting their well-being, and assisting them in their daily activities. You will play a crucial role in creating a supportive and therapeutic environment, fostering positive relationships, and helping residents develop essential life skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care and support to residents, ensuring their safety, well-being, and comfort.

  • Assist residents in daily activities, such as meal planning and preparation, personal hygiene, medication management, and household chores.

  • Foster a therapeutic and supportive environment by establishing positive relationships with residents, promoting open communication, and encouraging their active participation in their treatment plans.

  • Implement and monitor individualized treatment plans, ensuring that goals and objectives are met.

  • Facilitate group activities and therapy sessions, promoting socialization, skill-building, and emotional well-being.

  • Observe and document resident behavior, progress, and any changes in mental or physical health, adhering to confidentiality and privacy policies.

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including therapists, nurses, and psychiatrists, to ensure effective communication and coordination of care.

  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when necessary, following established protocols and guidelines.

  • Attend training sessions, workshops, and team meetings to enhance knowledge and skills in providing quality care.

  • Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures, including health and safety guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and or a Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field is preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Previous experience working in a residential setting or with individuals with mental health challenges is preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish meaningful relationships with residents.

  • Compassionate and patient nature, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

  • Ability to adapt to changing needs and situations, while maintaining professionalism and composure.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle challenging situations effectively.

  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in documenting and maintaining accurate records.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, as some travel may be required.
