Amentum Environmental Health & Safety Specialist in Falls Church, Virginia

Amentum is looking for an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team in McLean, VA. As an EHS Specialist, you will perform general environmental and/or safety support services, investigations, and analyses.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI government security clearance with Polygraph. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for complex technical work in a wide range of environmental, safety, and health disciplines to achieve compliance with EH&S standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety and health programs, systems, and procedures

  • Responsible to monitor and initiate action to prevent hazards in the workplace

  • Recommend continuous improvement processes with designs, procedures, and operating equipment to minimize hazards.

  • Assist in facilitating employee safety training, emergency preparedness, and manage the quality of the programs presented.

  • Plan and perform industrial hygiene activities and provide advice to management on industrial hygiene program-related issues.

  • Develop monitoring programs to minimize employee exposure to contaminants and toxic agents.

  • Prepare reports and make recommendations for control and correction of hazards.

  • Provide industrial hygiene training support.

  • Investigate, evaluate, and monitor the adequacy of ventilation systems, lighting, and other factors that may affect an employee's health, comfort, or efficiency and coordinate implementation of corrective measures.

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

  • This position will interface with government personnel and subcontractors.

  • Must be able to report to site (no remote options available)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Seven (7) years of EHS related experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS-related field, i.e., Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or other sciences. EHS-related experience may be substituted for educational requirements.

  • Good written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.

  • Position may require small amount of travel.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • On-site work only (no remote or hybrid).

  • Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret/SCI w/poly security clearance, preferred.
