Taco, Inc. Material Handler in Fall River, Massachusetts

Performs duties required to receive, store, and maintain records on component parts. Responsible for counting, checking, and storage of all component parts.

  • Responsible for selecting, and maintaining location of raw materials. Opens crates with crowbar. Breaks down empty crates for disposal

  • Picks parts from preprinted pick lists and issues slips. Contacts planner and/or supervisor if shortage occurs. Uses Tablet & scanner for all warehouse transactions.

  • Responsible to constantly monitor the Material Request Que and deliver components to the proper production worker.

  • Operates Tablet, computer, scanner and material handling equipment including forklifts, electrical hand trucks, pallet jacks and stepladder to reach material. Uses crowbar and mallet for crates. Must have all necessary certifications for use of material handling equipment.

  • Carries out proper verification methods as part of the cycle count program.

  • Responsible for filling, Kan-Ban and bread box systems etc. throughout the Facility.

  • Frequently moves average weight materials (over 5 lbs. and up to 60 lbs.) as necessary in the performance of the job or as directed. Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to supervisor.

  • Maintains electric truck and fork truck in good operating condition. Maintains prescribed water level in batteries and plugs in for overnight re-charge.

  • Maintains necessary records. Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.

  • Perform other related duties as required or directed.

Required SkillsRequired Experience

  • Use of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers; use of schedules, computer scanning devices and skin wrapping machine; use of material handling equipment; where interpretation is required involving basic skills knowledge.

  • Over 1 year up to and including 3 years’ experience.

  • High school diploma or GED
