TACO, Inc CNC Setup Programmer Operator in Fall River, Massachusetts

Position Summary The CNC Setup Programmer Operator creates computer numerical control (CNC) programs for manufacturing components, cutter selection, setup documentation, tooling design and drafting, CNC tooling programs, verification, and shop aid sketches. This position is responsible for the creation of CNC machine programs for the manufacturing of mid to high complexity components. Measures of success: Accurate creation of special CNC programs, with first pass success above 95% On-time completion of Kanban production and proper processing of jobs Achieve equipment run times of 75% or higher Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Use computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software to select the appropriate cutting tools and speeds/feeds for a variety of material types in order to create CNC programs and instructions used to run a CNC machine Verify CNC code to engineering models to ensure accuracy Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to determine the appropriate machine tool, work holding and cutter selection, machine speeds, and feed rates Observe machine trial runs or conduct computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications Write, store, and modify original and/or existing CNC programs to enhance efficiency Coordinate with other functional areas as needed to implement and change CNC programs Provide progress, status, and troubleshooting reports to management Meets with tooling suppliers to determine the best consumables for particular processes Maintains work area in a neat and organized manner to 5S standards Qualifications Required: High School Diploma or equivalent 7+ years of experience operating and programming CNC equipment Blueprint reading, basic math, and understanding of measuring devices Experience with computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel required Good computer skills and ability to query, monitor, and input NC machine and system data Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, with the ability to apply mathematical functions Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses Experienced with the use of office equipment including fax, phone, photocopy machine, scanner, and calculator Able to keep team members well informed and to draw on other\'s expertise when required Ability to interpret engineering documentation and write appropriate machine-level instructions, including revisions to existing programs Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities Willingness to learn and receive training and, if required, train others Preferred: Graduate of machining vocational or technical training program 10+ years of experience operating and programming CNC equipment Work Environment This position works primarily in a production floor environment where large equipment and noise are prevalent. This position reports into the site every day. Management This position has no direct reports.
