This full-time role features day shifts with a schedule of four 9-hour days and one 4-hour day each week, with some travel required. Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient information and records in the medical record and computerized scheduling systems to ensure accuracy.

  • Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule patient appointments, and relay relevant messages to staff and providers.

  • Greet and register patients courteously, provide necessary instructions and directions, and handle check-in and check-out processes.

  • Maintain a clean and organized waiting area, including the beverage station and reading materials, for patient comfort.

  • Prepare patient charts in advance of appointments to ensure efficient and effective care.

  • Answer and screen phone calls, take messages, and provide information about appointments and testing.

  • Update and manage physician schedules, ensuring accurate patient bookings and appointment confirmations.

  • Complete required paperwork such as encounter forms and referrals, and use the computer system for billing-related tasks.

  • Adhere to UPMC Health System policies and procedures, ensuring strict confidentiality of medical records and data.

  • Utilize financial management system modules for scheduling, information verification, charge entry, co-payment collection, and reconciliation.

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 1 year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Word processing and computer experience

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 34
