Bon Secours Mercy Health Lead Vascular Technician in Fairfield, Ohio

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Lead Vascular Technologist supervises the Vascular Laboratory and performs diagnostic, non-invasive, vascular exams on patients using ultrasound and physiologic testing equipment to evaluate the Cerebrovascular, Peripheral arterial, and Peripheral venous systems. Job may also include Abdominal Vascular evaluation. Weekends and on-call is required.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists in overseeing, scheduling, and coordinating the work assignments of vascular department associates. Assists sonographers in resolving more complex technical problems by advising or demonstrating appropriate methods or techniques.

  • Maintains qualified staff. Interviews, educates, reviews job performance, and terminates in alignment with the department manager and the Human Resources department.

  • Develops, reviews, revises, applies, and supports department and organizational policies, procedures, and processes. Develops and maintains a Quality Assurance program in accordance with department accreditation guidelines. Previous experience with preparation of a successful application for accreditation

  • Inputs data for associate time and attendance, which includes producing the on-call schedule and making changes when needed in time keeping system.

  • Performs all essential job functions of a Registered Vascular Sonographer.

  • Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the Mission and Values of Bon Secours Mercy Health and adheres to the standards and policies set forth by the Corporate responsibility program, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations, and reporting to Manager (or Corporate *Responsibility line) any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts of practice.

  • Adheres to all standards and policies regarding safety initiatives, infection control policies, and protecting patient confidentiality.

  • Demonstrate ability to perform non-invasive vascular exams at the level of proficiency.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of vascular anatomy, exam procedures, interpretation criteria, and correlation of vascular lab exam results with other hospital procedures.

Licensing/Certification

Credentialed in vascular technology by one of the following organizations required: Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVT) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Vascular Sonographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (required)

BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) (required)

Education

Associate's degree in an applied health science field with concentration in cardiovascular technology, ultrasonography or other related study. (preferred)

Work Experience

2 years' experience as a vascular technologist (required)

Training

EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred)

Picture archiving communication system (PACS) (preferred)
