Aston Carter Stock Buyer in Fairfield, California

Summary:

The Stock Buyer provides timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services to support the company’s distribution plans in the designated regions and commodity categories. They are responsible for maintaining inventory levels through the procurement process of necessary goods in a timely, economical, and efficient manner in order to meet company goals.

Essential Duties:

  • Review ERP demands and place purchase orders for multiple branches.

  • Develop and maintain target inventory levels for items based on near- and long-term forecasts, based on analysis and collaboration with other key departments.

  • Evaluate and determine the best total costs to justify the decision to purchase or transfer inventory to meet customer demands.

  • Negotiates price, quality, delivery and terms with selects supplier and places purchase orders while assuring compliance to local and Corporate Operating Procedures and Ethical Code of Conduct.

  • Follow up with suppliers on order confirmation and to track on-time delivery.

  • Control inventory levels and return excess inventory as needed to bring inventory levels to optimum levels, reducing the risk of overstock and obsolesce.

  • Build and maintain vendor relationships

  • Work with Warehouse and Account Payable to resolve issues related to invoice payments and material receipts.

  • Work with the Company’s Sales team to ensure any changes to product offerings are reflected in the annual plan and/or periodic re-forecasts.

  • Evaluate inventory liability for items that are pending discontinuation or at risk of expiration.

  • Identify potential cost savings ideas and process improvements, saving time and money.

  • Other duties as required.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Minimum of Two (2) years of customer service, office environment, buyer, purchasing, planning or supply chain experience, preferably in a distribution or MRO environment

  • Strong knowledge of best purchasing and inventory practices

  • Decision-making, problem resolution and creative thinking skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (including excel) and Outlook

  • Eclipse or other Linux based distribution management software experience, a plus

  • Knowledge general purchasing practices

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines

  • Outstanding attention to detail

  • Great listening, written and oral communication skills

  • Strong sense of urgency

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and able to learn new applications quickly

  • Eclipse software experience or other Linux based/SAP based, ERP software experience preferred

  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability

  • Knowledge of manufacturer to vendor channels a plus

  • Decision-making, problem resolution and creative thinking skills
