WR Systems Systems Engineer (Signal Processing) in Fairfax, Virginia

Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel to customer locations as project demands

Location: Fairfax, VA OR Norfolk, VA

SUMMARY: WR has a potential opportunity for a Systems Engineer (Signal Processing) to be a top technical contributor for the design and development of systems-level software and systems support.

Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Working knowledge of system engineering models, digital signal processing, development models, processes, Unified Modeling Language (UML), tools scheduling and budgeting.

  • Proficient in object oriented programming and relational database environments with some demonstrated software development time using one or more languages under the Unix, Windows or Linux operating systems.

  • Research and evaluate software and hardware to support development or utilization within a system.

  • Work with clients to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements.

  • Analyze the performance of complex hardware and software interfaces and identifies alternatives for optimizing the usage of system resources.

  • Independently applies generally accepted system engineering standards and techniques.

  • Contribute to the architecture, design, coding, testing, debugging, configuring, and documentation of systems and software.

  • Act as a consultant to users in the development of systems and software.

  • Assist or direct the installation of systems and user utilities for modifications and upgrades of systems and environments.

  • Independently manage complex system maintenance and repair activities.

Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Math, Physics or related scientific discipline.

  • Three (3)+ to Fifteen (15)+ years of professional experience in digital signal processing, systems, software, electrical or mechanical engineering.

  • Must be familiar with MATLAB, C++, and Python experience.

  • Experience with Linux operating system.

  • Understanding of radar system fundamentals and waveform processing.

  • Must be familiar with detection and estimation theory.

  • Experience may be substituted in lieu of degree depending on domain experience and contractual requirements.
