Job Description

HII Technical Solutions Division (HII-TSD) is seeking a software engineer with experience in Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP (LAMP) to work at their Fair Lakes, VA office.

Candidates will be a part of a team designing, developing, implementing, testing and maintaining software following Waterfall and Agile development methodologies. They wil also be required to collaborate with Transition and other business teams to discuss issues, make recommendations and solve complex problems. This role will be heavily involved in converting existing code (Python) to PERL.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Integrate newly developed software with existing systems

  • System administration tasks including hotfixes and bug fixes

  • Development of high quality code to provide accurate test results in order to deliver high quality product

  • Provide guidance to engineers, work closely with network engineers and system administrators

  • Create and help maintain technical and end-user documentation for new and existing application

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4 or more years relevant experience; or 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or Masters in related field.

  • Experience with a scripting language such as Perl, Python, Powershell, Ansible, or Javascript

  • Experience with MySQL

  • Security+ certificate OR ability to obtain within 60 days of hire

  • Must be able to take initiative, work independently and innovative

  • Ability to meet project timelines and collaborate in a team environment

  • Occasionally needs to be available outside business hours to support customer

Preferred Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Linux & Apache Environments.

  • Strong skills in both Perl and Python.

  • Familiarity with Agile Methodologies

  • Experience in GNU Autotools

  • Basic understanding of LAMP Stack development

  • Should be able to adapt to new languages, methodologies, and platforms to meet the needs of the project

  • Have worked with JIRA and/or Github
