Position Overview The Riverside Research Software Applications Team (SWAT) is seeking a full-time TS/SCI cleared usability analyst for leading and executing user research, user interface design, and useability testing. The usability analyst role is essential in helping ensure the SWAT's software products are valuable and desirable. The SWAT is an innovative team of experienced software professionals who develop and deploy valuable (i.e., useful, usable, used) and desirable software solutions at the speed of relevancy. Responsibilities * Conducting user research, and analyzing feedback to understand the needs, behaviors, and motivations of the user base. This insight helps in designing more effective and user-friendly interfaces. Research includes both gathering both qualitative and quantitative data. * Translating design concepts into functioning user interfaces. This involves working closely with designers to ensure that the visual design intent is realized accurately in the final product. * Conducting usability tests to identify any issues or areas for improvement in the user interface. This includes setting up test scenarios, gathering user feedback, and making data-driven decisions to enhance usability. * Collaborating with product managers, designers, and developers to understand product objectives and user goals. * Leading heuristic evaluations and cognitive walkthroughs of product designs. * Creating and maintaining design guidelines, best practices, and standards * Advocating for the user, ensuring that the final product aligns with user needs and expectations. * Remaining updated on current usability trends, tools, and technologies. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Top Secret clearance with SCI adjudication * Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Design, or a related field (equivalent relevant experience considered in lieu of degree) * 5 or more years of experience in usability analyst, user research, or a related role * Experience with Python or other high-level, interpreted programming language to assist with standing up and operating the usability testing framework * Proficient in usability testing tools * Understanding of user-centered design principles and practices * Ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets and transform insights into actionable recommendations
