Specialized Transport & Rigging Inc Trailer Mechanic in Fairbanks, Alaska

**[Summary: [This position is responsible for the repair and routine maintenance on trailers, trucks and other STR equipment as required. Including but not limited to, air systems, brakes, tires, electrical, and structural repairs. Work is primarily performed in the shop but can also be required in the field.

  • Inspect and evaluate incoming equipment and machinery and determine defects.
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
  • Clean, lube, and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Perform repairs to equipment and test to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacture specifications.
  • Ensure all work orders and service sheets are filled out completely and legibly and turned in, in a timely fashion.
  • Pick up/deliver necessary supplies, materials and parts as needed.
  • Maintain communication with Equipment Manager or direct supervisor on defects found or shop needs.
  • Keep shop space and work areas clean and organized.

  • Load and unload various equipment and machines from or to delivery truck.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
  • Assist other shop and operations staff as requested.

**[Education and/or Experience: [Minimum: Familiarity with repair and maintenance of transportation equipment and machinery. One year of job-related experience. Must possess a valid state driver license. [Preferred: Two years vocational training in equipment maintenance or equivalent work experience. Familiarity with computers and Cummins Insite. Class A CDL a plus.
