Spirit of Alaska Federal Credit Union Consumer Loan Officer in Fairbanks, Alaska

Interview applicants and analyze their creditworthiness using Spirit of Alaska FCU's policies and procedures. Approve loans within lending limits and refer denials and loans outside the limits to appropriate source. Servicing of consumer loan and credit card portfolio to include answering phones, meeting with members, file and account maintenance and working with dealers along with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years related financial institution experience preferred. Consumer lending experience desirable.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficient with PC, telephone, 10-key, and other related business equipment and application software and platforms.
  • Ability to multitask and perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Job Duties

  1. Maintain a working knowledge of Spirit of Alaska FCU's lending products, policies procedures, and operating systems as well as any updates that are implemented.
  2. Understand and comply with all state and federal regulations and laws. These include but are not limited to NCUA, Regulation B (ECOA), Regulation Z, Alaska UCC regulations, The Fair Housing Act, The Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Consumer Protection Act.
  3. Ensure all information has been gathered that is required to make good loan decisions and make approvals within authorized lending limits.
  • Work up the loan and approve within authorized limits, be able to discuss various loan alternative, and cross-sellother products when applicable.
  • Complete credit analysis that includes, but is not limited to calculating debt ratios, analyzing credit reports, verifying length of employment, collateral evaluation, and deposit relations.
  • If not within authorized lending limits, be able to present your recommendation to management and/or Internal Credit Committee.
  • Attend the Internal Credit Committee as required for training.
  1. Work with existing and potential members of Spirit of Alaska FCU while maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity. Answer loan inquiries appropriately from applicants and dealers, either by phone, in person, fax, or email.
  2. Communicate credit decisions.
  • Communicate all decisions properly and effectively to all parties associated with the loan.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Complete and remit timely adverse actions.
  1. Loan finalization, maintenance, and processing.
  • Prepare loan documents for closing.
  • Schedule loan closings.
  • Ensure all required documents are properly signed.
  • Disburse loan proceeds.
  • Organize loan documents in proper order in the file.
  • Ensure all proper documents are in the loan files and filed accurately.
  • Ensure all title work and UCCs are done in a timely manner.
  • Process the paid-in-full loans, release liens, and send appropriate documentation to members.
  • Perform file maintenance as required.
  1. Assist other departments of the Credit Union as needed.
  2. Other duties as assigned.
