How will you make an impact?

The Workflow and Applications Development Manager will be responsible for partnering with the Product Management and Specialty Chemicals Services (SCS) leaders to assist in translating the individual portfolio strategies into workflows and applications, with the ultimate goal of simplifying our customers’ experience and helping LAR to play a critical role in the bench to production total company value proposition. As such, this role will also lead cross-divisional projects centered around workflows and applications. This will be a highly collaborative role with a large degree of technical expertise. The ideal candidate will enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer by ensuring we can provide them with essential laboratory analytical reagents.

What will you do?

We are seeking a Workflow and Applications Development Manager for the Laboratory Analytical Reagents (LAR) Business Unit who will assist Product Management and SCS strategies into workflows and applications. This exciting role will also participate as a critical member of the leadership team of the LAR Business Unit. More specifically, the following will be essential elements of the role:

  • Actively participate and contribute to the Product Management and SCS strategies for our portfolio providing guidance to leaders of those functions on how best to leverage workflows and applications to simplify our offerings for our customers.

  • Partner with cross-divisional partners, beginning with our Chromatography and Mass Spec division, to develop initiatives to enable improved cross selling and support of each of our respective portfolios. Expand to other divisions with the company consistent with our LAR strategy and prioritization/timing.

  • Meet with customers to understand technical needs, largely centered around workflows and applications, and share such feedback with Market Development and Product Management. Based on such feedback, provide direction and support to Sales, R&D, Market Development, and Operations, to maximize revenue, drive operational improvements and develop and execute marketing strategies.

  • Support SCS, Product Management and Market Development as they understand and develop strategies for particular market segments and specific strategic business development targets.

  • Partner with Product Management to create and deliver sales training as needed to support workflow and application initiatives.

How will you get here?


  • Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline required.

  • Ph. D in Life Sciences strongly preferred.


  • Specific knowledge of LS-MS space strongly preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of Product Management, Marketing, Sales or similar relevant experience.

  • Experience across numerous chromatography workflows and applications.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong technical knowledge and skills across multiple chemistry disciplines with a strong technical understanding of all chromatography workflows and applications (with a pronounced focus on LS-MS).

  • Ability to translate highly technical information to multiple audiences, including scientists, executives, and non-scientific personnel.

  • Ability to comprehend individual product line strategies and help translate such strategies into workflows and applications to simplify the customer’s experience.

  • Strong customer focus with a demonstrated track record of successful customer interactions.

  • Excellent communications and presentation skills (PowerPoint and Excel expertise).

  • Self-motivated with a track record in executing both short- and long-term plans.

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix management structure and partner seamlessly within the organization.

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships cross functionally.

  • Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to travel up to 20%, including occasional international travel.
