Summary:

 

Journal Register Offset is looking for a Reel Tender to join our production team!  Reel Tenders serve an important role in newspaper production. They focus on loading large paper rolls into newspaper printing presses and discarding spent rolls. No prior work experience required, we will train you!

 

What you will do:

  • Review all layouts for shifts productions to ensure knowledge of product name, printing order, and circulation order

  • Check each layout for sizes and weights of paper needed

  • Keep reel room neat and empty trash every shift

  • Cut down all spent cores before the end of each shift

  • Inform lead person of any defective rolls

  • Ensure that reel reports are filled out correctly and completely for each product

  • Keep roll lay down pad full and make sure paper is removed from warehouse in proper order, oldest to newest

  • Help on press as needed and assigned by lead person

  • Check product folio's at roll up

  • Other duties as assigned

     

What you will bring:

  • Must be willing to work nights, weekend and holidays

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required

  • Must be able to read, speak and write fluently in English in order to communicate with the production team, read instructions and generate reports

  • Mechanical aptitude is required in order to functionally work with printing press equipment

  • Trouble shooting skills are required to diagnose problems and implement solutions

  • Team work skills are required in order to work productively with production staff with the shared goal of completing newspaper printing with high quality standards by daily deadlines
