job summary:

A Senior Stress Engineer is needed for one of the world's largest suppliers of aerospace and defense products in the Everett, WA area. This position analyzes aircraft interiors for structural integrity, coordinates cross-functional teams, and contributes to compliance with FAA regulations.

responsibilities:

  • Perform classical stress analysis of composite and metallic structures.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in FEM idealization and modeling practices using FEMAP, NASTRAN, or other FEA packages.

  • Review engineering drawings and models for structural integrity and compliance with FAA regulations.

  • Support customer and internal meetings as the stress engineering focal point.

  • Author and review stress deliverables including qualification plans (QP), interface loads reports (ILR), static test plans (STP), dynamic test plans (DTP), abuse test plans (ATP).

  • Conduct peer reviews of finite element models.

  • Coordinate with the integrated product team (IPT) as the stress engineering representative, collaborating with design engineers, electrical engineers, flammability engineering, purchasing, operations, and program management.

  • Explain and present analysis and assumptions in a rational manner to customers, leadership, and teammates.

  • Support the development and maintenance of functional work instructions, procedures, technical manuals, and guidelines.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Work autonomously and provide technical guidance to a team of engineers.

  • strong verbal and written communication skills, especially for communication with individuals whose first language is not English.

  • Research and investigate structural design solutions independently.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • strong interpersonal and proactive skills, with a demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to a highly collaborative team environment.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in the aerospace industry, particularly with aircraft interiors.

  • Experience with Certification by Analysis (CBA) of aircraft interior monuments.

  • Experience with NX (formerly Unigraphics) and Siemens Teamcenter.

  • Experience with Qualification Test Programs for Boeing & Airbus programs.

  • Experience in Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRB) or Production Line support.

  • Experience in developing automation tools using Excel API, Python, Visual Basic (.NET).

Additional Information:

  • P2: Bachelor's degree in engineering from a four-year college or university and 4-5 years related experience and/or training in product design; or equivalent combination of education and experience in product design.

  • P3: Bachelor's degree in engineering from a four-year college or university and 6-9 years related experience and/or training in product design; or equivalent combination of education and experience in product design. May perform as functional "Lead" for the stress team on specific project(s).
