LMI Aerospace Quality Inspector in Everett, Washington

POSITION SUMMARY

We are currently seeking an Inspector. The Inspector position performs inspection functions at all stages of composite part manufacture. Must be able to read and interpret customer instructions, blueprints, drawings, etc., read and interpret charts and other statistical information, prepare parts and documentation for outside criteria, and participate in work center and other problem solving teams as requested. In all actions, supports LMI’s Quality Policy, Mission Statement and other LMI policies and procedures by supporting our commitment to total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability and respect for people.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment by following all Company safety policies and procedures.

  • Assist in establishing and documenting inspection criteria; prepare parts and documentation to meet external criteria.

  • Inspect pre-assembled and partially or fully assembled aircraft parts and structures.

  • Complete all required inspection documentation, including First Article Inspections.

  • Accurately interpret customer purchase orders, blueprints, mylars, engineering drawings and other documents related to job specifications as an aid in the inspection process.

  • Conduct internal audits of the Quality Management System.

  • Write customer submittal tags.

  • Utilize appropriate tools such as gauges, scales, calipers, and other measuring equipment to check part integrity.

  • Read and interpret SPC charts and other statistical information.

  • Assist production in meeting customer requirements.

  • Participate in work center and other problem-solving teams as requested.

  • Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • May help develop work instructions or assist other work centers. Willing to perform tasks for other work centers as required to accommodate customer requirements and work-flow within the plant. Employees are required to keep their work area clean and sweep their work area at the end of their shift.

  • Must know, understand and follow all job tools available and applicable to the job and the plant, including work instructions, the Employee Handbook, etc.

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to work overtime including weekends and holidays as needed.

  • Need to possess an understanding of process flows, lead times and lean principles in the manufacturing environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES

  • High School diploma or equivalent required

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

  • Basic blueprint reading skills including knowledge of dimensioning and tolerance.

  • Basic knowledge of measurement instruments with surface plate/height gauge experience.

  • Ability to handle multiple assignments within the same time period.

  • Some knowledge of composite part manufacturing preferred
