The Opportunity: As the Supervisor #5 PM Operations, you are responsible for leading and managing the daily shift at the paper mill, including finishing and stock preparation, safety, quality, production costs, environmental waste control and employee relations.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Ensure daily production, maintenance targets and delivery schedules are met in compliance with manufacturing deadlines by allocating personnel and supporting troubleshooting efforts.

  • Maintain staff planning and alter schedules to adapt to unforeseen conditions and maximize productivity.

  • Ensure reliable employee performance and compliance with environmental, safety, production and quality requirements.

  • Work with Team Leaders to ensure vital information is discussed during pre-shift and monthly safety training meetings to prevent injuries, eliminate hazards, improve housekeeping and comply with all applicable regulations and mill policies.

  • Resolve customer issues and identify preventative solutions.

  • Maintain quality and environmental parameters within prescribed limits, basing decisions on operating conditions and trends.

  • Oversee workforce planning through assigning and directing work, conducting employee performance reviews and coaching employees to achieve developmental goals.

  • Troubleshoot quality specifications and understand key drivers required to meet the quality specifications of product.

What you need to succeed:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. with equivalent years of experience

  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in the Paper, Converting or Corrugated industries and 10 years of relevant paper machine experience

  • Basic knowledge of in line coater operations is preferred.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement

  • Demonstrated effective process management skills.

  • Knowledge of machinery and how to identify issues and troubleshoot equipment.

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally or written cross-functionally to employees or to customers.

  • Ability to coach and train employees

  • Ability to be an on-shift resource for troubleshooting problems in the process as well as maintenance issues.

  • Possess ability strong leadership skills to coach and train employees.

  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of Lean manufacturing.
