Description /Position Summary

Position Location: Eugene, OR

Work site activities may also include demolition, soil excavation, dredging and site restoration. Minimum one year of experience in the operation of hydraulic excavator, track-type tractors, bull dozers, wheel loaders up to six cubic yards, track loaders, lift trucks, rubber-tired backhoes, dump trucks, bobcats, man and scissor lifts. Should be certified in operating a forklift. Perform all types of trouble-shooting, repair, and equipment maintenance. Worksite activities shall include safe work practices, compliance with approved procedures and processes and may include hazardous materials handling, decontamination, working around and with heavy equipment, demolition, soil excavation, general remediation skills and site restoration.

It is anticipated that these open positions will be filled to perform project site operations near Eugene, OR and expected to be 4 months to a year in duration. Additional opportunities include being added to EQM's Specialized Craft Labor Crews performing projects across the West Coast, Alaska, Pacific Islands, Great Lakes Region and other Emergency or Rapid Response Projects nationally.

Skills and Experience:

  • Work requires ability to work overtime and timely response to emergency situations;

  • Must hold a 40 hour OSHA HAZWOPER certificate and 8 hour refresher

  • Must have familiarization and understanding of use and application of various types of respiratory protection and chemical hazards.

  • Valid Class B or C Driver's License preferred but not required.

  • Experience performing duties related to the clean-up of hazardous waste sites; utilizing all types of personal protective equipment, have working knowledge of commonly used field equipment and gear.

  • Working knowledge of standard safety procedures dealing with hazardous materials.

  • General knowledge of confined space entry, construction, complex pumping systems, electrical, chemical transfer, and plumbing.

  • Recommended but not required completion of a 10 OSHA Construction Safety course and be able to present a certificate of compliance;

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Must complete and pass a Baseline Physical and Federal Drug Screening.
