PeaceHealth Clinical Nurse Educator - Behavioral Health in Eugene, Oregon

Description

PeaceHealth is seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator for a Part Time, 0.80 FTE, Variable position.

Acts as a Clinical Education generalist or may be assigned to a specific unit(s)/department. Works in collaboration with other clinical educators and clinical nurse specialists within the network and across the system to develop, coordinate and implement nursing, nursing support and inter-professional orientation, in-service education and staff development programs to promote safe and effective patient-centered care. Facilitates professional growth, skill development, competency and attainment of standards of care for direct care within patient care services, PHMG and or Ambulatory care Services. Serves as a leader and role model in advancing clinical practice to achieve better patient outcomes.

What you will enjoy:

  • Acting as a resource to all caregivers regarding nursing, professional practice and use of equipment/ supplies in area of expertise.

  • Assisting in the design and implementation of nursing education programs, activities or new process/equipment using PeaceHealth training standards, processes, templates and course documentation forms.

  • Participating on teams and partnering on development of standardized cross-regional clinical, nursing or quality guidelines, protocols or training curriculum in area of expertise.

  • Coordinating and providing department-specific orientation for newly hired nursing and clinical staff.

  • Conducting learning needs assessment, facilitating practice and process changes in assigned area of expertise.

  • Evaluating competency and identifying team or individual caregiver performance gaps. .

  • Designing learning experiences and action plans to assist those requiring remediation to meet competency expectations.

  • Researching best practice to promote evidence-based practice.

  • Assessing caregiver engagement, patient quality indicators and evaluates education effectiveness to achieve clinical excellence.

  • Ensuring training and competency are documented using standard tools and learning management systems (LMS).

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing through State Board of Nursing approved program.

  • Masters Degree of Science in Nursing or Education preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a RN.

  • Minimum of 3 years recent experience in an education or in an equivalent Preceptor role setting to varied audiences.

  • Registered Nurse licensure in the state which nurse will be practicing.

  • Basic Life Support

  • Nursing Professional Development Certification preferred.

Additional Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement instructional modules and use a variety of educational methods.

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications and a variety of equipment or technology tools.

  • Ability to engage learners and apply adult learning techniques.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Working Conditions

  • Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.

  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  • Sedentary work.

  • Predominantly operates in an office environment.

  • Some time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $51.10 – $76.66. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

PeaceHealth requires a completed Primary Vaccine Series (e.g., 2 dose monovalent Pfizer, Moderna or Novavax series or 1 dose J&J vaccine series) or be Up to Date (receiving the most recent Pfizer/Moderna bivalent vaccine/booster) for COVID-19 vaccination prior to their start date. PeaceHealth has a medical and religious exemption request process for those that are unable to receive the COVID-19 primary vaccine series due to medical/religious reasons. For caregivers that will be working in Oregon there is a personal vaccine exemption form that may be requested.
