Ethos Veterinary Health Lead Emergency Veterinary Technician in Estero, Florida

The Florida Veterinary Referral Center (FVRC) in Estero, FL is hiring a full- time Lead Veterinary Technician to join our outstanding team!

FVRC is a state-of-the-art 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital with great doctors, amazing staff, and great customer service. Shifts Available: 3 / 12 hour shifts per week.

Qualifications:

    Responsibilities of a Lead Veterinary Technician:

  • Working knowledge Hospital Policy and Procedure – including ER/ICU department protocols.

  • Attend rounds and ensure they are held promptly and that appropriate detailed information is provided on each patient.

  • Provide guidance and support to technical staff to keep flow going if things get busy and hectic.

  • Review end of shift duties to ensure they are completed.

  • Organize and direct larger cleaning projects during slow periods or down time.

  • Responsible for authorizing On-Call. 

  • Direct “traffic” When the treatment floor is very active. Work with the doctor to prioritize and triage patients.

  • Keep a running knowledge of the whiteboard and the number of walk-ins present throughout your shift. Work with the doctor(s) on duty to get realistic wait times for clients.

  • Work with technicians and assistants to set a lunch schedule that is appropriate for that day.

  • Adjust staffing between ICU and ER floor as needed.

  • Strong understanding of the skill levels of VA’s and Tech 1’s and tasks they are authorized to do.

  • Redirect individuals who are performing tasks that are not appropriate for their level.

  • Ongoing training of Assistants and Technicians through role modeling and 1:1 direction.

  • Ensure that correct safety procedures and protocols are being adhered to.
