Emerson LAN Network Engineer L5 (Contractor) in Escazú, Costa Rica

PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILTIES

Service Engineering

Be an active member of the team to develop new and continued improvements of exist service releases including but not limited to:

  • Working with Managed LAN/WLAN Services Manager on the evaluation of new technologies, growth, development, of LAN Services that align with service roadmaps

  • Working in a cross functional team to ensure LAN Services are designed to ensure a high level of quality and consistency using existing and new technologies

  • Work with the Service Delivery & Operations group to train, support, and educate so they delivery services with a high level of quality, reliability, and consistency across the enterprise

  • Work with other managed service teams to develop designs, standards, procedures, and training to ensure compatibility and support within LAN Services

  • Stay up-to-date and work with new and emerging technologies to help influence the direction feature releases of LAN Services

  • Working in a cross functional team to develop LAN Services requirements, standards, deliverables, and Work with other projects and services as needed

  • Ability to work alone and prioritize time to meet assigned task, goals, and issue resolution

Technical Abilities

  • Provide top level design expertise for provisioning projects to ensure alignment with LAN Services for greenfield, brownfield, acquisitions, and custom designs

  • Provide guidance and expertise of Build of Material list (parts list) for LAN Service projects as needed driven by complexity

  • Advanced knowledge of LAN and WLAN technologies such ethernet protocols, multi-gigabit networks, fiber networks, 802.11x, wireless access via Flex Connect and WLC, end to end wireless QOS through WMM, RF knowledge is a plus

  • Experienced in troubleshooting and implementing Cisco Catalyst line of products (LAN & WLAN), Fortinet (LAN & Firewalls), and Juniper mist

  • Advanced Layer 2 and 3 design aspects for enterprise LANs

  • Ability to design and troubleshoot high availability LAN and Wireless LANS

  • Working knowledge of LAN media types and ability to diagnose escalated last level support issues remotely

  • Ability to collaborate with other engineers, technical specialist, and vendors to provide feedback for improvements and designs with services

  • Advanced knowledge of IP, routing, and subnetting

Last Level Support

Provides last level support to Service Delivery and Operations teams for escalated LAN Services issues

EDUCATION/COMPETANCIES

  • BA/BS in Information Systems or related area (or equivalent experience)

  • Cisco LAN Certifications preferred

  • ITIL v3 Foundation Level

  • Results oriented with personal accountability

  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of quality control

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to work with diverse teams

  • Excellence driven

  • Ability to multiple communication platforms to effectively communicate with global teams

  • Passion for learning new technologies

  • Ability to prioritize and work with multiple technologies and projects

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum seven years of IT experience

  • Minimum three years of service transition or service engineering experience

  • Minimum two years of experience in the design, implementation, and operation of Local Area Networks and/or Wireless networks with Cisco & Fortigate hardware in an enterprise environment
