Bay de Noc Community College Composition Learning Assistant in Escanaba, Michigan

Job Summary/Basic Function:

The responsibility of this temporary position is to provide assistance to students enrolled in the composition courses, with a primary focus on corequisite courses. This position will be providing support in and out of the classroom, as needed by students and the instructor.

Essential Job Duty and Responsibility:

  • Collaborate with faculty to help students meet learning outcomes.
  • Provide academic support for students who are having difficulty meeting the learning outcomes of the composition courses.
  • Provide individual and group tutoring and mentoring to composition students.
  • Recognize and respond to students according to their varying learning needs and use innovative strategies to assist them in grasping and applying subject matter.
  • Maintain and provide data on students assisted, time spent, and type of assistance provided to supervisor and College Readiness Coordinator.
  • Serve as resource for composition students who are at risk and ensure that they are provided the necessary assistance.
  • Attend composition courses as requested by the faculty to ensure consistency of teaching methods and learning outcomes.
  • Hold office hours/open support time in the  HUB.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
