GE Vernova CNC Machinist - Intermediate in Erlanger, Kentucky

Job Description Summary

The Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist - will work at the Erlanger, KY Service Center to service and manufacture large scale, power generation equipment along with their subassemblies by following blueprints and specific work instructions.

This is an onsite position only available at our Erlanger, KY Service Center. The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday, with weekend work as optional. Available shift is 6:45AM to 3:15PM.

Our Erlanger, KY Service Center is responsible for manufacturing/assembly and/or repairs of large utility grade Steam Turbines and Generators.

Job Description

As the CNC Machinist you will:

  • Work in a shop environment safely with zero accidents and/or injuries

  • Set-up and operate various CNC Machine Tools

  • Read CNC programs, familiar with G & M codes

  • Make minor edits to CNC programs

  • Read and interpret Engineered Blue Print dwgs

  • Understand and apply geometric tolerances

  • Set up and safely use various inspection tools and gages (i.e. inner diameter (I/D) & outer diameter (O/D) Mics, calipers, Pi-tape, bore gages, Tri-mics, thread gages, etc...)

  • Machine to required tolerances of .0005” - .005”

  • Determine machining feeds and speeds and tool selections

  • Work effectively with team to ensure successful delivery to customer

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED

  • Minimum 5 years CNC Machining Experience preferred

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to follow all safety rules and wear all PPE as required.

  • Experience with GE Fanuc Controls.

  • Proven ability to use shop math, including trigonometry and geometry.

  • Ability to follow work rules, carry out instructions either written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Ability to work well with others.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

  • Desire to take ownership and accountability in work and in company success.

  • Ability to work in a lean and fast-paced environment.
