Who will you be working with?

Our Global Engineering Operations team provides overall guidance and support to the Wabtec Engineering ecosystem for operational best practices, improvements, and tools, to provide the best in class engineered deliverables/products with regard to safety, quality, delivery, cost and talent for the business. On our team, you'll interact daily with engineering and cross-functional leaders across the company to improve the engineering operational skillset and experiences at Wabtec.

How will you make a difference?

The Senior Project Engineer will have full responsibility for leading engineering operations projects of medium to high complexity from proposal through completion to increase effectiveness (safety, quality, efficiency, and cost) of the Freight Equipment and Services, Transit, and Digital Intelligence engineering teams. They will need to work with engineering teams to develop engineering solutions while working cross functionally with manufacturing, IT, sourcing, and services to prepare for integration of the engineering solutions into their environments (if needed). This role will be expected to act as a leader and an individual contributor as part of a project team and ensure the team understands and fulfills their responsibilities. They will also need to provide technical expertise to integrate engineering developments into manufacturing and services environments. The primary focus for this role will be on the engineering operations/processes/deliverables of all mechanical (fabrication, machining, and mechanical assembly) systems that Wabtec engineering teams develop.

What do we want to know about you?

  • BS degree in an Engineering discipline from accredited technical college or university.

  • 8-10 years of engineering development and/or engineering operations experience

  • 3-5 years of project engineering/management experience

  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability to lead projects from proposal through completion.

  • Knowledge and demonstrated application of mechanical engineering design/simulation tools.

  • Knowledge and demonstrated practical application of integrating engineering solutions into manufacturing and service processes/environments.

  • Intermediate to Advance skills with Microsoft office applications (Excel, Power BI, SharePoint)

What will your typical day look like?

  • Provide project and technical leadership of cross functional team members involved in the assigned engineering operations projects to meet engineering, customer, and overall project requirements

  • Help cross-functional team members develop and integrate solutions when needed

  • Provide subject matter expertise in mechanical designs/assemblies and leadership for personnel involved in your assigned project(s) as needed to ensure project deliverables are met

  • Coordinate and own integration plans that are developed for the assigned projects.

  • Provide structured engineering and cross functional updates of projects status including scope, schedule, budget, risks, challenges, solutions, etc.

  • Attend and support cross functional development and review meetings as it pertains to your assigned project(s)

  • Capture action items pertaining to above responsibilities to be completed from the project review meetings and complete them according to priority and timing of the project

  • Support project team in completing necessary tasks to ensure project stays on schedule, budget, and within scope.

  • Other duties assigned as needed
