Performance Castings LLC Molding Department Foreman in Erie, Pennsylvania

The Molding Foreman will oversee the daily operations of the molding department while also participating hands-on in the molding processes. This is a working foreman position, where the ideal candidate will balance supervisory responsibilities with active involvement in the production line. The successful candidate will ensure efficient production processes, adherence to safety standards, and the delivery of high-quality castings.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Green Sand, No-Bake molding and Core Making within a foundry environment, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative and productive team atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the molding department to meet production schedules and quality standards.
  • Actively participate in molding operations and processes alongside team members.
  • Maintain Pattern inventory to include the pulling and returning of patterns from storage.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of molding team members, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager and other department Formen to develop and implement process improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Department to maintain and troubleshoot molding equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Ensure that all molds are produced according to specifications and quality requirements.
  • Manage inventory levels of materials and supplies required for the molding and core making processes.
  • Prepare reports on production, quality, and safety metrics for management review as needed.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, encouraging open communication and continuous improvement.
  • Complete all reasonable requests of the Operations Manager.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in molding operations within a foundry environment preferred. Other experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of Geen Sand and No-Bake molding techniques, Core making, materials, and equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Commitment to safety and quality in all aspects of work.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Carpentry ans/or mechanical skills a plus.
