KBR Generator Servicing Engineer in Erbil, Iraq

Title:

Generator Servicing Engineer

ust be a UK National and have a 5 year footprint in the UK in order to obtain the required Security Clearance

Location: All FMSO Sites across the Middle East. (Currently Iraq, UAE, Oman & Bahrain)

Working Conditions: Based in military operational theatres, in arduous conditions at some locations.

Rotation: 12 weeks on/3 weeks off

  • Previous on site experience preferably with a major generator manufacturer, or supply agent.

  • Recognised and accredited trade qualifications of City & Guilds standards or above.

  • First class fault finding and diagnostic abilities on both mechanical and electrical components on Prime power and standby Generators.

  • Supervisory experience and good communication skills.

  • Proven ability of applying good environmental practices in tasks performed including the investigation of accidents and incidents, carrying out risk assessments and risk control and complying with UK health and safety legislations.

Preferred:

  • Experience of working on operations in austere remote sites or in developing nations.

  • Familiarisation courses and product training on Caterpillar prime mover units.

  • Familiarisation courses and product training on FG Wilson Generators/Perkins prime mover units etc.

  • Familiarisation courses and product training on Woodward control gear etc.

  • Load bank testing.

  • Familiarisation and product training on electronic engine controls.

  • Familiarisation of engine diagnostic tools i.e., Perkins electronic service tool, Cat electronic technician etc.

  • Electrical qualification showing competence and knowledge of IEE regulations at 18th Edition.

  • Mechanical experience with HGV vehicles would be beneficial for this role

  • Hold or have previously held a MOD Authorised persons certificate in disciplines such as Mechanical, Petroleum.

Core Responsibilities and Duties

  • Complete Generator Maintenance and Servicing in contracted timeframes.

  • Provide mechanical and generator advice to the Site Lead

  • Motivated and able to evaluate and complete tasks

  • Management of all Power Generation and Mechanical Works.

  • Ensuring and promoting high standards of mechanical hygiene to prevent contamination to prime mover units.

  • Undertake planned and reactive repairs on contracted generators and associated fuel systems.

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety at Works Act and implementing Safe Systems of Work.

  • Pro-actively promote an open and honest HSE culture within the areas of responsibility.

  • Arranging for Generator repairs to be undertaken and satisfactorily completed within contracted timescales as dictated by the Site Lead.

  • Initiation and ordering of materials via the Stores Request Service.

  • Conduct ad-hoc and weekly toolbox talks when required.

  • Deliver pre-shift briefs and any total safety task instructions, risk assessments and method statements as required.

  • Present a positive image of KBR / OSSL at all times.

  • Provide assistance to the Site Lead on non-related generator matters as and when required.

  • Provide rotational leave cover and/or support for Site Lead’s area of responsibility as required.

  • Provide support and technical advice to other trades in relation to the investigation of faults and problems and advise on all generator related matters.

  • Ensure document control accountability for all KBR forms used in relation to the tasks undertaken on site.
