The Actors Fund Home Certified Nurses Aide- Per Diem in Englewood, New Jersey

Actors Fund Home, an assisted living, skilled nursing, accredited dementia care and sub-acute rehabilitation center located in Englewood, NJ, and a recipient of a CMS Five Star Rating seeks a Per- Diem Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) who will be responsible for providing daily routine non-professional nursing care and basic technical nursing care under the direction and supervision of the professional nursing staff.

JOB DUTIES

  • Provide care to residents in all aspects of personal care and hygiene; keep each resident clean, well-groomed and as comfortable as possible.

  • Assist residents with their ADLs (activities of daily living), such as transfers, bathing, hygiene, grooming, toileting, etc.; encourage self-help and independence whenever possible.

  • Assist professional staff in rendering treatments and examining residents in isolation, dying or deceased.

  • Assist in arranging transportation, reminding residents of appointments, accompanying residents to appointments or programs as needed.

  • Assist residents in preparing for medical tests (i.e. lab work, x-ray, therapy, etc.) and collect specimens as instructed.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of residents’ Care Plans.

  • Answer all call bells promptly.

  • Maintain residents' privacy and confidentiality; ensure that all residents are treated fairly and with kindness, dignity and respect.

  • Report all resident changes in condition or unusual findings as well as incidents and accidents promptly to the nurse on duty.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have an active NJ Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification and must maintain active certification.

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent certification.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

  • Possess effective interpersonal skills in working with residents, co- workers, families and various health professionals.

  • Be adaptable to change and able to meet crisis and emergencies.

  • Ability to work independently and problem solve with minimal supervision.

  • Must have an understanding of, affection for, and a desire to work with the aging.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to lift, move and carry supplies and equipment.

  • Must be able to pass the facility’s physical examination upon employment and annually thereafter.

ABOUT THIS POSITION

This is a Per-Diem (16 hours) hourly position based at Actors Fund Home in Englewood, NJ. Shift requirements include weekend or every other weekend . Available shifts include 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am or working every other weekend. The successful candidate must be able to cover assigned shifts on a regular basis, including holidays, and should be available to cover vacations/call outs of other Certified Nursing Assistants on occasion. This is a non-union position and is not benefits eligible.
