Responsibilities

Provides National Real Estate Services (NRES) Planning with management of ambulatory and acute projects and initiatives as assigned; provides support in development of internal and external communications; assists in preparing project scope/budgets and monitors project expenses related to design and materials selections at a system level.

This role has oversight of the creation, execution, and maintenance of the Comprehensive Design Guidelines for ambulatory, acute, and office environments across CommonSpirit Health. It involves active collaboration with partners within NRES and throughout the entire CommonSpirit organization. This position is responsible for developing a design platform that aligns the diversity of the organization with the aim to establish best-in-class environments that support the mission of CommonSpirit Health.

This position has direct responsibility to CommonSpirit Health NRES. This position will provide consultative assistance on non-capital projects that are complex or have coordination requirements with master planned or larger projects.

This role is critical in maintaining a standardized and cohesive approach to healthcare facility design within the CommonSpirit Health organization. It requires a deep understanding of healthcare operations, design principles, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. Additionally, staying informed about industry trends and advancements is crucial to ensuring that the guidelines remain effective and state-of-the-art.

  • Guideline Development and Implementation: Oversees the creation and implementation of Comprehensive Design Guidelines for various healthcare settings; ambulatory (outpatient), acute (inpatient), and office spaces within the CommonSpirit Health system. Including color schemes, material selection, furniture selection, overall aesthetics and space templating

  • Guideline Maintenance: Ensuring that the design guidelines are up-to-date and relevant. Involves regular reviews and updates to reflect changes in healthcare practices, technology, and any evolving standards in the design industry.

  • Guideline Coordination: Coordinates efforts across various stakeholders involved in the design process. Includes architects, interior designers, healthcare professionals, acute care leadership, ambulatory care leadership and other relevant parties. Ensuring that the design guidelines align with the overall goals and vision of CommonSpirit Health.

  • Guideline Communications: Take the lead in ongoing communication and education to various teams and departments across CommonSpirit Health about the purpose and content of the design guidelines.

  • Planning Benchmark Development: Assists in the development of planning benchmarks and templates for space needs utilizing demographics, historical project data, industry trends, throughput objectives and patient experience objectives

  • Programming and Concept Development: Develop preliminary space programs based on anticipated patient volumes, organizational strategy and operational objectives. Develops conceptual floor plans from the space program aligning the needs assessment, functional program, throughput expectations and design guidelines

  • Brand Integration: Integrate the CommonSpirit Brand Objectives into the design guidelines while maintaining the integrity of the CommonSpirit Brand.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in, Architecture, or similar degree required with a strong background in Healthcare Planning, Design, and Construction.

Significant experience (10+ years) with providing leadership and management direction related Healthcare Planning, Design Construction.

Experience in working with planning, design, and construction service provider networks.

Active member of IIDA, ASID, AIA or related professional organization.

LEED or EDAC accreditation preferred.

LEAN certification a plus.

Excellent knowledge of medical planning, building design, and space programming.

Adept in Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, and Google products.

Experience in SketchUp and/or REVIT, AutoCAD products is a plus.

Experience in developing project budgets, including design and construction budgets & control.

Experience and knowledge of planning multi-phase projects. Experience in construction project phasing and disruption in a healthcare environment.

Demonstrated success in past healthcare planning, design construction projects. Management reporting capabilities to meet organization goals and objectives. Experience with providing visible sponsorship and guidance of major change initiatives preferred.

Pay Range

$51.66 - $74.91 /hour
