Amentum Architectural Designer 2 in Englewood, Colorado

Amentum is actively seeking an Architectural Designer 2 in the Englewood, CO office.

Purpose and Scope:

Prepare preliminary design concepts and/or design drawings often of a complex nature for mechanical, electrical, physical and site applications for engineering staff and customers. Prepare CAD drawings and illustrations in accordance with customer format requirements and drawing standards. Check all drawings generated in department for accuracy.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare plans and detail drawings working from sketches or Engineers' notes.

  2. Develop 3-D and solid CAD/CAE models to assist in the development of equipment arrangement drawings.

  3. Select proper size drawing formats, drawing scales, and correct views and sections.

  4. Research files and catalogs for information required by job.

  5. Consult with architect/originator for approval of basic concepts.

  6. Draft working drawings and wiring diagrams of electronic and electrical equipment for the erection, installation and repair of electrical equipment and wiring.

  7. Draw plans for installation of plumbing equipment.

  8. Draw plans for structural construction; steel, wood, masonry, and land layout.

  9. Check all drawings to assure incorporation of drafting manual standards and procedures, electrical and ISO standards, and other national standards as required; submit drawings for checking.

  10. Route drawings for appropriate review and incorporate changes and revisions.

  11. Obtain proper signature on drawing for release, and record drawings.

  12. Perform normal maintenance of computer equipment, and provide systems retrieval functions.

  13. Assist drafters as necessary to provide clear, concise and accurate drawings.

  14. Visit job sites and make preliminary layouts to check critical design problems, as necessary.

  15. Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, may perform technical assignments of moderate complexity within approved schedules and budgets.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen, no dual citizenship

  • Bachelor of science or arts degree in Architecture from an accredited college or university or demonstrated equivalent education.

-Minimum 3 years of job related experience.

  • Requires thorough knowledge of CAD software.

  • Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.

  • Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

  • Position may require travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain Architect's license.

  • Government or nuclear experience, i.e., DOD, DOE, NR.

Compensation & Benefits:

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $68K - $100K Annuall (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
