We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer who will be an outstanding addition to our Developer Tools and Engineering Experience team to help reduce complexity and improve the development velocity and time to market of our software engineering teams that utilize cloud computing and help develop automated self-service solutions, blueprints and golden paths for cloud-native applications and infrastructure, deploy best-in-class tools, engineering standards, and best practices. 

This individual will be working across two teams as a technical lead assisting in building out and maintaining an API management system and Developer Portal.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher or combination of relevant education, experience, and training in Computer Science or a related field. 

  • 8+ years as part of a team building cloud infrastructure and automation tooling 

  • Broad knowledge of various programming languages, frameworks, and tools.

  • Proven experience with TypeScript and modern React.

  • Strong, proven proficiency with AWS, especially with core services such as Lambda, and ECS; experience with AWS best practices and familiarity with a broad range of AWS tools and services.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, ensuring successful execution of complex projects.

  • Proven experience in end-to-end API Gateway development, particularly Kong.

  • Proven experience with Infrastructure-as-Code Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, or an equivalent. 

  • Strong networking skills and F5 BIG-IP and Cloudflare experience are highly desirable. 

  • Experience in Backstage or DevEx platform development, internal development portals desirable

  • Desire to lean in on a philosophy of security, resiliency, and privacy by design. 

  • Experience with modern build strategies, continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests required. Continuous delivery experience preferred.  Tools such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions preferred.

  • The ability to jump into a project and contribute immediately to both architecture and implementation. 

  • Proven track record of implementing solutions efficiently in a collaborative environment. 

  • Uses advanced knowledge and in-depth evaluation to execute projects with multiple variables.

  • Leading complex projects, providing technical guidance and oversight, driving architectural decisions, mentoring and coaching engineers, and collaborating with stakeholders.

  • Driving technical excellence. Have deep expertise in a particular domain and possess a comprehensive understanding of computer engineering principles. Serve as subject matter experts, provide guidance on architectural design, and mentor junior engineers.

  • Experience delivering software using an agile development process 

  • Able to define, document, and communicate front-end, middleware, and back-end architectures 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively connect with both business and technical teams
