5-7 years tax/accounting experience – insurance or financial services tax experience is preferred.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, preferably in tax accounting or a related area.
CPA/MST preferred.
Description:
Review federal, state, and local tax calculations, returns, payments, and supporting documentation, to ensure company compliance with the various jurisdictional requirements, generally with a focus on a specific tax subject matter. More complex calculations and returns may be prepared by this position. 30%
Oversee tax accounting (accruals, reconciliations, etc.) as needed to support financial reporting compliance, including improving processes, controls, and analytics, generally with a focus on a specific tax subject matter. More complex reconciliations or accounting calculations may be prepared by this position. 25%
Maintain relationships with third-party vendors and collaborate with other functional areas of the company to drive accurate and efficient results. Serve as point of contact for subject matter area internally and externally, including coordinating audits and other interaction with taxing jurisdictions. Mentor and develop others. 25%
Drive or assist with special projects, tax planning and research to support department initiatives. 20%
Provides leadership and drives tax processes including technical tax accounting and compliance knowledge over federal and state and local tax compliance, tax accounting, tax planning, tax research and special projects. Distinguished from the Sr Tax Accountant position by deep technical knowledge in a specific tax subject matter or increased leadership/management responsibilities (including vendor management).
