Business Service Representative Position Description

Primary Objectives of Position: Primary Objectives of Position: The objective of this position is to use a consultative sales approach to offer KANSASWORKS solutions to companies and businesses in our Emporia Area counties; and will office at the Emporia Workforce Center. The keys to success for this position include strong customer service and follow up strategies, familiarity with a consultative sales process and solution selling. Strong presentation skills a must.

Essential Job Functions:

Contact new and existing customers to discuss their needs, and to explain how these needs could be met by specific products and services.

Research potential prospect opportunities and cultivate new leads using a variety of information sources such as: company annual reports, investment analyst information, print media, internet sources, business directories, follow up on leads from existing business clients, follow up on leads from other staff, and cold calling.

Identify customer business needs. Develop company-based solutions. Develop and present proposals. Involve appropriate company resources throughout the sales cycle.

Verify that job orders and screening criteria are accurate and that recruitment needs are being met.

Provided advocacy, education, outreach for special populations (justice involved, disabilities, older workers, and other WIOA barrier categories) and special funding opportunities/programs that are available to employers.

Presentations on a one-on-one basis, and small or large groups.

Ability to learn products, services, and procedures of SEK Works and KANSASWORKS. Promote the use of on-the-job training (OJT), Registered Apprenticeship and other work-based learning products as a tool for both business and job candidate.

Knowledgeable of WorkReady, Talent, O*Net, and other testing tools as a screening tool for employers.

Possess a good understanding of economic development and governmental programs.

Act as a business resource to the customer and provide industry expert executive level selling practices while delivering clear differentiation, analyzing activities and trends, and understanding industry terminology and concepts.

Be a team player and also have the ability to work autonomously.

Identify all Decision Maker Influences within the assigned account base and prospective clients.

Conduct high-level meetings and/or presentations with clients and prospects.

Develop value statements, account profiles and strategies for all accounts.

Manage opportunity funnel by continually qualifying and re-prioritizing opportunities among accounts, meeting with customers, managing the sales cycle, and reporting on opportunities, activities, forecast, and contact information.

Entry of data and notes in KANSASWORKS.

Prepare monthly reports documenting outreach activity, placements, and other business service activity.

Job Location and Time Commitment:

This position will have a principal office location at one of four Workforce Centers as indicated above. Primary work will occur from these offices, but the position could be required to travel within the 17-county area as needed. This position is a full-time, hourly position. This position is expected to work 40 hours per week. Occasional evening or weekend event-based may be required and schedule will be adjusted accordingly. Overtime hours will be based on the business needs of the organization and must have prior approval of the immediate supervisor. Employment is an at will employer-employee relationship.

Job Qualifications and Experience:

Associate degree in business or related field or equivalent experience.

Previous experience in the employment/training field a plus.

Experience working with the community, public and non-profit organizations.

Ability to relate effectively with people with a high level of integrity.

Strong presentation skills for both small and large group events.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Must possess PC proficiency and in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Must have a valid drivers license and valid automobile
