Mount St. Mary's University HVAC Preventive Maintenance Technician in Emmitsburg, Maryland

Perform all duties as assigned by immediate Supervisor/Manager/Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifies deficiencies and deviations from maintenance schedules and standards and performs regular Preventive Maintenance on various HVAC equipment.
  • Performs general repairs/maintenance.
  • Assists other HVAC tradesmen as directed.
  • May operate light or heavy equipment, and maintains equipment and tools.
  • Assists with snow removal as needed.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Overtime may be required.

Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read, write and follow directions. Basic computer skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of mechanical, Low Voltage electrical, heating/cooling and general repairs.
  • Must be familiar with and adhere to all the safety rules and regulations for the University Safety Policy which apply to the work environment.
  • Know how to Lockout/Tagout equipment.
  • Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements:

  • Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing or pulling required objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy items up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to spend a significant amount of time outside in all weather conditions.
  • Be able to work off ladders and on roofs.
  • Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
