About This Role We’re seeking a Director, Intellectual Property, who will be responsible for handling all OmniAb intellectual property matters. This individual will collaborate with management to executive-level team members, along with the Business Development and Scientific teams. The ideal candidate has experience in leading intellectual property matters for one or more public biotechnology companies, as well as experience with licensing transactions. This role reports to the Chief Legal Officer and Secretary. This is an onsite position based out of our Emeryville office and will require limited travel. This is a full-time position, and the working hours are 8am-5pm PT. What You’ll Do • Manage OmniAb’s patent estate by interfacing with internal teams (especially research teams) and supervising outside counsel on all matters from drafting new applications, prosecution of pending applications and licensing and enforcement of issued and granted cases. • Prepare intellectual property budget, maintain patent and trademark databases, review proposed SEC filings, publications and presentations for intellectual property related issues and advise internal teams on various IP related matters. • Oversee all trademark matters for OmniAb by working with internal teams (commercial, investor relations, marketing, etc.) and supervising outside counsel. • Provide support and review on M&A and other diligence related activities by conducting and/or overseeing patent and literature searches and analysis. • Assist with negotiation and interpretation of licenses and other intellectual property related agreements. • Other duties as required. What You Bring • JD or an equivalent degree and BSc in Life Sciences or a related field. • 8+ years of experience in biotechnology related intellectual property law matters. • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. • Prior experience in the same or a similar role at a public biotechnology company. • Experience collaborating with outside business council entities, including due diligence on IP filings and/or strategic transactions. • Experience collaborating with management to executive-level team members, including Business Development and Scientific teams. • Strong skills in strategic/analytical thinking, project management and problem solving. • Detail oriented with ability to organize and retrieve information as needed. • At ease in a zero-redundancy work environment. The base compensation range for this position is $233,000 - $275,000. The range provided is an estimate. Actual compensation may vary based on skills, experience, education, location, and other factors permitted by law.
