WORK SCHEDULE

Overnight Hours; Weekends Required; Scheduled hours 28/week

JOB SUMMARY

This is a temporary, non-exempt position requiring some experience in PCF Center operations or other related business operations experience. Under the direction of the Distribution Center Manager (DCM) or Assistant Distribution Manager (ADM), performs the manual labor aspects of the daily distribution center operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in all the daily operations at a Distribution Center.

  • Unloads newspapers from delivery trucks, verifying receipt of proper amounts newspapers.

  • Retrieves emails, prints and reviews paperwork, and distributes as needed in advance of operations.

  • Competent in the use and maintenance of pallet jack, pallet walker, re-charger, strapping machine and other equipment.

  • Assists drivers in off-loading tractor trailers, storing materials, and reloading trucks within established deadlines.

  • May deliver open routes and/or show routes to new Delivery Service Providers.

  • May deliver replacement copies at the customer’s request.

  • Learn layout of routes serviced from the distribution center and periodically audit routes for visual verification of contractual compliance by the DSPs.

  • Assist in maintaining a daily record of: contracted routes serviced, dispatch times for trucks, system problems and answers to customer complaints.

  • Occasionally, in the DCMs or ADMs absence, prepares weekly route settlement to insure accurate compensation to DSPs for services rendered.

  • May function as a working leader on the floor occasionally, but normally does not have supervisory responsibilities.

  • All other warehouse and housekeeping work as necessary.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Technical and Functional

  • Competence in the use and maintenance of the pallet walker, pallet jacket, re-charger, computer, printer, trucks, and company vehicle.

  • Good verbal communication skills and communication skills in person and on the phone.

  • Ability to learn layout of geographical area serviced from distribution center.

  • Ability to develop thorough knowledge of the Delivery Service Provider Agreement.

  • Ability to meet and/or exceed the established customer service objectives.

  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license in the state where residing, and automobile insurance at limits required by PCF.

    Required Physical Abilities

  • Able to routinely lift heavy items.

  • Able to unload bundles of newspapers (30 – 50 lbs each) multiple times on a daily basis.

  • Able to operate automobile.

    Working Environment

  • Able to meet deadlines and attendance standards.

  • Able to work weekends and early morning hours.

  • Able to work in warehouse type environment.

  • Able to function at night in adverse conditions.
