Job Description

::: {dir="ltr"} The Machine Shop Manager is responsible for all aspects of the machine shop including driving EHS excellence, employee engagement, quality, productivity, cost competitiveness, and implementing best in class precision machine shop processes & concepts.

 

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Drive Environmental, Health, and Safety excellence across machine shop operations.
  • Establish, track, and improve key metrics aligned to precision machine shop operations.   Establish visual management system.
  • Establish, audit, and ensure compliance with standard work for tasks.
  • Understand customer requirements, determine process and equipment capability gaps, and implement plan to close gaps.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 requirements.
  • Partner with planning team to establish and track schedule adherence.
  • Baseline productivity and costs.   Develop and implement plan to achieve best in class performance through continuous improvement.
  • Developing, coaching, and mentoring employees.
  • Other tasks as required.

     

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Master's degree preferred or bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or other relevant engineering disciplines
  • 3 years or more experience leading a manufacturing operations team
  • 3 years or more working in a precision machining operation, 5 years or more experience leading a precision machining operations preferred
  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of precision machining equipment
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Thorough understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Ability to troubleshoot precision machining processes
  • Ability to establish Key Performance Indicators for Machine Shop & Production Operations
  • Ability to estimate hours and costing for jobs
  • Project management experience executing large capital projects is preferred
  • Experience with managing and leading a machinist apprentice program is preferred
  • Formal education / training in SAP, Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Statistical Process Control is preferred.  HP :::
