Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Ensures the facility is maintained in a clean and sanitary condition and in a state of good repair. This position may have supervised / unsupervised contact and or conversational interaction with consumers while working in the residences, day treatments and habilitation facilities.

  1. Maintains a clean, sanitary environment. Sweeps, mops floors and disinfects bathrooms if events (i.e.: major floods) require it. 2. Responsible for ensuring that assigned site(s) is in good repair (i.e.: paint, plaster, repair furniture and property as needed). Ensure that site(s) are in compliance with all fire and life safety codes by conducting on-site inspections. 3. Complete facility specific inspection checklists on monthly basis including but not limited to vehicle, fire extinguisher, emergency light, clothes dryer vent, boiler/water temperature, and stair chair/wheelchair lift.4. Completes work orders as assigned by supervisor (via text, verbally, in-person & hard-copy) and maintains record of all completed work.5. Keeps appropriate records on all work performed and ensures that all necessary paperwork is completed.6. Responsible for ensuring that emergencies and unsafe conditions at the site(s) are immediately addressed.7. Keeps sidewalks, yards, stairs, driveways, and steps clean of debris. Duties may require shoveling snow, as well as salting and sanding areas.8. Responsible for the storage and inventory of all necessary maintenance equipment and submission of required reports.9. Keeps bathrooms stocked with paper towels, toilet tissue and soap (site specific).10. Tracks inventory of janitorial supplies and submits required reports (site specific). 11. Required to lift heavy objects such as furniture, garbage, appliances, etc. up to fifty pounds (50 lbs.).12. Must be able to bend, crouch and work in a kneeling position. 13. Must be able to carry & set a ladder, ascend and descent ladders, stairs and stepstools in accordance with OSHA guidelines.14. Must be able to access confined spaces and perform work as needed in areas such as attics, crawlspaces, beneath sinks & kitchen cabinetry.15. Checks air conditioning/heating systems, hot water heater, pipes for leaks (water, gas & sewer), laundry equipment (including vents & appliances, and other site equipment for signs of wear and tear and alerts supervisor to the condition.16. Attend certificate and non-certificate classes as well as other trainings as required.17. Required to work during emergencies such as snow/inclement weather, weekends & holidays.18. Must attend monthly staff meeting.19. Work schedules and locations are subject to change.20. Other duties as required.21. Position may require driving an agency vehicle. 22. Must be able to utilize hand-tools such as screwdrivers, hammers, saws, drills & toilet snake, etc. following OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: High school or equivalency diploma and experience in general maintenance work. Hands-on knowledge of plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems preferred. Valid driver’s license.
