Greater Southern Tier BOCES TEACHER, ONLINE LEARNING (PART TIME) CHEMISTRY in Elmira, New York

Part-time position

Various middle and high schools throughout the GST BOCES region. The majority of the work can be done virtually (through email, phone calls) with some face-to-face or Zoom meetings as needed.

  • Instruct students in grades 7 – 12 across the region in online academic courses

  • Coursework is mostly supplied through a vendor

  • In most cases, grading is required by the online teacher

  • Online teacher will be responsible for contact with students, district, and/or parents-guardians on a regular basis and as needed by the student for individual support with the content area.

Job Qualifications

Valid NYS Permanent or Professional Certification in 7 – 12 Chemistry

  • Three (3) years’ teaching experience;

  • High proficiency with technology;

  • Quick responsiveness to students and stakeholders;

  • Strong organizational skills;

  • Strong written and oral communication skills;

  • A willingness to supplement online content as needed

SALARY: Based on number of students, per course, per semester. Instructors also receive a one-time training stipend and hourly pay for mandatory meetings and trainings. Instructors may be assigned multiple students across the region at one time, based on need.
